Masjid Opening for Outdoor Prayers

As of June 8th 2020, The Islamic Center of Mill Valley will be open for Outdoor Prayers. All the prayers will be performed on the parking lot until Marin County allows indoor religious gatherings.

The Masjid can only open and remain open if it follows the rules set by Marin County Health Department. Please see the general rules at www.marinrecovers.com and specifically https://marinrecovers.com/Faith-Based-Organizations for religious organizations. A Covid-19 Site Specific Protection Plan for the Masjid has been prepared. The rules below were developed to comply with both the Marin County and California guidelines for religious organizations.

If you are not willing to follow the rules, please do not come to the Masjid. We cannot jeopardize the health and lives of others and we cannot jeopardize the risk of the Masjid being forced to close.

The Islamic Center of Mill Valley assumes no responsibility for those who choose to attend the Masjid. If you are not comfortable in light of the current pandemic, please continue to offer prayers at home.

Currently, only outside services can be held, so the only activities that will be conducted by the Masjid will be the five daily prayers and Juma’ah prayers.

The prayers will be conducted outdoors in the Masjid parking lot. Dress appropriately for outdoor prayers.

No other gatherings inside or outside the Masjid is allowed except for the five daily prayers and Juma’ah.

No one with fever, cough, sneezing or other Covid 19 symptoms will be allowed.

If you are over 65 and have underlying conditions, please do not come to the Masjid.

Social distancing of at least 6 feet is necessary. Immediate family members can choose to be closer.

Wearing of face coverings is required at all times by all except for the face covering of the Imam when leading the prayers. You will only be allowed to pray if you have your mask on.

Daily prayers will be on the northeast corner of the parking lot near the building. Please do not park your car in this area.

Bring your own prayer mat.

Please come to the prayer with Wudu. The Wudu area and bathrooms in the Masjid are for emergency use only.

Only one person at a time will be allowed in the Wudu area or bathroom. If you do use these facilities, please disinfect by wiping down all touched surfaces.

In consideration of neighbors and County guidelines, prayers will be kept as short as possible.

As sound outside travels easily, please try to be as quiet as possible, especially for Fajr and Isha prayers.

To meet County requirements for contact tracing and for our own safety, anyone attending must provide their name and contact information. So, after or before every prayer, a roll call will be taken of all attendees. Please wait patiently till the roll call is finished before leaving.

Please leave the Masjid as soon as the prayers and roll call are finished and do not socialize.

When leaving, please be patient and leave in an orderly manner and making sure you are at least 6 feet from each other.

Please do not shake hands/hug/come into physical contact with anyone. All bayans and talks (except for Friday Arabic Khutba) are to be conducted on-line.

Additional Rules for Juma’ah Prayers.

Since attendance will likely exceed the maximum capacity of a hundred allowed, two separate Juma’ah Prayers are planned.

Azan for the first congregation will be at 1.20 PM. Azan for the second congregation will be at 2.00 PM

Parking in the Masjid parking lot will be reduced.

Other parking will need to be in the streets or other vacant parking lots. Please respect the neighbors and do not block their driveways.

Because of the overlap between prayers, please try to carpool to reduce the number of cars.

Practice social distancing of 6 feet when coming back and forth from your cars and have face coverings.

The maximum capacity of 100 individuals for each prayer will be strictly enforced.

Once the capacity has been reached for the first congregation, please wait quietly outside the Masjid street entrance with social distancing for the second congregation.

Since it is expected that there will be more attendees in the first congregation due to various reasons, if not absolutely necessary, please just plan to come to the second congregation if possible.

After each prayer and roll call, leave the premises immediately with no continued gatherings. Leave in an orderly manner and allowing for social distancing for the next group to come in.

Please respectfully follow any directions of volunteers that are enforcing the above rules.
